A great game just got greater!
After the resounding success of the original Road Rash, fans worldwide were giddy to see what tweaks were to be made in this sequel. The bottom line is – they nailed it. Making an already fantastic game even better. With improved graphics, more catchy tunes, funny post-race sequences, and now a chain for a weapon (as well as the standard baseball bat).
The main addition to the game however was the new vast range of bikes available to purchase from the bike shop. With one entire range fitted with nitros (a limited number of). Just double tap the accelerate button and hold, to activate a short burst of acceleration.
This new additional feature sparked even more life and excitement into the game. Whether you saved them to quickly get back up to speed after crashing, or to get past a hoard of rashers with minimum fuss, this aspect of the game was well received.
Just like in the first game, there are 5 levels to work your way through, each level consisting of 5 different tracks, where you must finish in the top 3 of each to progress to the next level. With each level adding a little more distance to each race.
You’ll whizz through the first 3 levels easily enough, but the real challenge begins on level 4. Here you will really need to hone in on your riding skills to overcome the rest of the pack. You’ll find yourself either righting your bike off constantly, or getting yourself arrested (a much cheaper option!). But this insane level of challenge is THE fundamental factor which keeps you coming back for more.
I often choose to ride motorbikes rather than cars in G.T.A, simply because im very good on them. It became apparent to me that I owe all these aquired skills to none other than Road Rash. This game will make an expert out of you. Top marks to the developers on this one. Road Rash 2 is an essential game for your genesis/megadrive library.
